News and Events

Goodbye from Judith!

This is my last article for the newsletter, as I retire (yes I really am that old) at the end of July. I have thoroughly enjoyed my last ten years working for Action for Children in Pembrokeshire. The project started off all those years ago in the Child Health Department with just a desk and me. Following consultations with parents it was agreed that the project would concentrate on providing information and co-ordinating services from all agencies to disabled children.

Over the years the project has grown and the key worker service provides support to one hundred and twenty families. The project also manages the Child Development Team and the Children with Specific Needs Register. We now have nine members of staff employed by Action for Children and six staff from other agencies who contribute some of their time each week to be a key worker.

I feel really privileged to have been involved with the development of the project. I have met lots of great children and young people and their very committed and caring parents. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with hardworking professionals from all the other agencies. A new project manager has been appointed and will hopefully take up post in September. Her name  is Diane Beacroft and she currently works for Barnardos so has lots of experience in working with families who are caring for a disabled child. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Diane and the project all the very best for the future and look forward to reading about events and developments in the next newsletters.
